The ABA Foundation released its second quarter 2019 Motorcoach Builder Survey. Based on surveys of the major motorcoach manufacturers that sell vehicles in the United States and Canada, motorcoach sales from the participating manufacturers saw an decrease over the prior year’s second quarter to a total of 766 units (502 new coaches and 264 pre-owned coaches) sold in the second quarter 2019.
There was an overall 15 percent decrease in sales year over year. However, pre-owned vehicle sales were up by 11 percent over 2018 second quarter sales. The biggest drop in sales was in the 40-45 foot group which went from 15 sold in the second quarter of 2018 to 4 sold in the second quarter of 2019.
“Despite a small drop year over year, we are still seeing strong sales numbers,” said Peter Pantuso, president of the ABA Foundation. “The sale of more than 700 buses in a quarter shows companies are still investing in their products to ensure customers are experiencing trips in updated vehicles offering them the convenience and amenities they demand.”
