Today the American Bus Association Foundation (ABAF) released the first quarter 2018 Motorcoach Builder Survey. Based on surveys of the major motorcoach manufacturers that sell vehicles in the United States and Canada, motorcoach sales from the participating manufacturers in the first quarter of 2018 were 622 units sold (431 new vehicles and 191 pre-owned vehicles) versus 734 sold in 2017 (510 new and 224 pre-owned).
“We are still seeing strong sales numbers as well as hearing that bus operators and manufacturers are confident in a successful 2018,” said ABA Foundation President Peter Pantuso. “The economy is strong, and companies continue to invest in newer vehicles to attract more passengers.”
The first quarter sales numbers were dominated once again by companies purchasing large 45’ new motorcoaches. Companies continue to invest in amenities such as free wi-fi, entertainment and power outlets on board to attract young people who are ditching their cars and forgoing flying to taking the bus on trips.
