Meet AAMC Member James C. Johnson, Jr. of J&M Travel & Motorcoach in Louisville, Ky.

Name: James C Johnson Jr
Company: J & M Travel & Motorcoach Operation
City, State: Louisville, Ky.
Years in the Industry: 26 years as an operator

How did you first get involved in the industry?

After my football career I needed something to do, so I started driving at the age of 21 and fell in love with driving.

Who has inspired your career?

My uncle before he passed away, he was a truck driver. I rode with him one day and said that I would like to drive.

What has been the greatest challenge|opportunity in your career?

I did a Korean tour through Canada, and I was requested every year after my first.

What advice would you give to others about working in this industry?

If you're not a people person, and you don't like to drive a lot, then this is not the career for you.

Why is it important for you to belong to the African American Motorcoach Council?

I feel that we, as African Americans, need to come together and lift each other up. The connection is a must. If you can't come together with your own, then how can you come together with other operators?!
