Mission Statement

The Next Era Leadership Council aims to support multigenerational business operations while preserving the history of the motorcoach industry. This includes focusing on the industry’s long-term future and sustainability and long-range planning for its future.

Goal

  • Enhance the future leadership of the American Bus Association while working with the next generation of industry business owners and leaders.
  • Provide business resources and insight to determine future ABA board members.
  • Ensure the industry’s longevity, including the next generation of motorcoach manufacturing teams (sales, service).
  • Provide support to encourage new leaders in businesses and operations.

Disruptive Innovation Award

The Next Era Leadership Council Disruptive Innovation Award is given to an individual focused on change and advancement for the motorcoach, travel, and tourism industry, improving its long-term health and vision. The individual will be a prime example of dedication to advancing the industry, having an ongoing understanding of sustainable tourism, and understanding the industry’s economic importance. Review the criteria.

Nominations will open in Fall 2026.


To join the NELC, all participants must meet criteria to be part of the selective group of active business leaders.

  • Actively participates in the industry for 3-5 years minimum
  • Has ties to multigenerational business, including direct family relations or leadership within existing family business
  • Good-standing member of both national and statewide organizations
  • Closely associated with motorcoach operations or manufacturing companies for motorcoaches

The American Bus Association serves a thriving industry that provides nearly 600 million passenger trips annually on charters, tours, scheduled service, and shuttles. Membership in ABA includes motorcoach operators, tour operators, tourism-related organizations, and products and service suppliers.
